Full course description

Everyone enjoys eating food each and every day. However, we often hear about outbreaks of food borne illness or how foods are being impacted by pesticides and environmental factors. Join us for this informative webinar which will help you to buy, prepare and store food safely.

In this webinar, Safe Food for a Healthy You, you will learn…
  • The most common foodborne illness, and how to avoid them when handling, preparing, and storing food
  • How to keep safe when eating foods outside the home and when traveling
  • The science behind how researchers determine the safety of food additive and preservative.

  • What are the benefits and drawbacks of buying and eating organic foods?
  • What is the impact of pesticides and environmental residues on foods and the food supply?
Our presenter, Julie Moreschi, MS, RND, LND has always been interested in food and its impact on our health and well-being. She pursued this passion in pursuing her BS degree in Nutrition from Bradley University (Peoria, IL) and her MS in Nutrition from Rush University (Chicago, IL). She also completed her dietetic internship at Rush University thus allowing her to become a Registered Dietitian Nutritionist.

Julie’s professional interests lie primarily in the areas of community nutrition, maternal and child wellness, and obesity prevention/ intervention from preconception through pre-K. Julie is involved in many community organizations including serving as chairperson of the Nutrition Advisory Council at Loaves and Fishes Food Pantry, and the advisory board and several committees for the obesity prevention coalition FORWARD (Fighting Obesity Reaching healthy Weight Among Residents of DuPage).

    • Pass the short CEU assessment quiz with a score of 80% or higher on your first attempt to demonstrate successful acquisition of knowledge.
